- Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned program; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
- Plans, schedules, prioritizes, and assigns inspection and sampling work in consultation with the Technical Services and Water Quality Manager; water sampling, and procedures, backflow compliance requirements and emergency operations programs.
- Communicates status of projects to appropriate personnel, working cooperatively to schedule work in accordance with established and special operational priorities.
- Provides technical and functional supervision to assigned unit; reviews, assigns, checks and approves quality of work; trains employees in work methods, use of tools and equipment, and relevant safety precautions.
- Maintains appropriate and accurate records of investigations, inspection sampling, monitoring and enforcement activities, compliance status reports, a variety of statistical records and other written material to document activities; checks and tabulates statistical data; prepares simple statistical reports; and prepares memos and documents for inter-office, inter-divisional and inter-departmental communications.
- Ensures compliance with current legal, regulatory and technical requirements related to drinking water supply operations and potable and recycled water systems. explains and interprets City codes, rules and regulations associated with state, federal, local, and permit requirements; performs appropriate follow-up actions including issuing citations for ordinance violations.
