Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior BI Engineer / Senior Data Engineer to spearhead a critical enterprise-wide transformation. As we modernize our analytics ecosystem you will lead the migration of high-impact workloads from Tableau and Qlik to MicroStrategy while simultaneously architecting new scalable BI solutions.

This is a high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of data engineering and business intelligence. You wont just be rebuilding reports; you will be redesigning our semantic layer and optimizing our cloud data strategy to ensure a seamless high-performance experience for our global stakeholders.

Migration Responsibilities

• Legacy Deconstruction: Analyze complex dashboards in Tableau and Qlik to reverse-engineer business logic data lineage and visualization requirements.
• Strategic Migration: Lead the end-to-end migration process ensuring parity in data accuracy while leveraging MicroStrategys unique capabilities to improve upon legacy designs.
• Modernization: Identify opportunities to consolidate redundant reporting and migrate flat legacy reports into dynamic self-service MicroStrategy environments.

MicroStrategy Development Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Design and maintain the MicroStrategy project schema including attributes facts hierarchies and complex transformations.
• Advanced Analytics: Build sophisticated metrics prompts and filters to support diverse business use cases.
• Performance Engineering: Develop and optimize Intelligent Cubes and MTDI files to ensure sub-second response times for executive-level dashboards.
• Dossier & Report Design: Create visually compelling intuitive Dossiers and documents that adhere to modern UI/UX principles and enterprise governance standards.

Data & Architecture Skills

• Semantic Layer Excellence: Design scalable reusable semantic layers that serve as a single source of truth across the enterprise.
• Data Modeling: Expert-level SQL skills for data profiling validation and complex query performance tuning.
• Cloud Integration: Work seamlessly with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake Redshift or BigQuery) to optimize data retrieval and storage strategies.
• API & Automation: Leverage MicroStrategy APIs and automation tools to streamline deployment and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to align ETL/ELT pipelines with BI requirements.
• Partner with Business Stakeholders to translate vague business needs into technical specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in Agile BI development.
• Define and implement BI governance security filters and object-level security.

Required Technical Skills (Must-Haves)

• MicroStrategy Mastery: Extensive experience with MicroStrategy Architect Web Workstation and Command Manager.
• Migration Experience: Proven track record of migrating enterprise-scale BI platforms (specifically from Tableau or Qlik).
• Advanced SQL: Deep expertise in writing debugging and optimizing SQL.
• Data Warehousing: Strong understanding of Star/Snowflake schemas and dimensional modeling.
• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud data platform (Snowflake preferred).

Preferred Skills (Good-to-Have)

• Knowledge of MicroStrategy SDK or REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Python for data manipulation or automation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control for BI objects.
• UI/UX design certification or background.

Experience & Education Requirements

• Experience: 8 12 years of professional experience in Business Intelligence or Data Engineering with at least 5 years focused on enterprise-scale MicroStrategy environments.
• Migration History: Demonstrated experience leading at least one large-scale BI platform migration.
• Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems Data Analytics or a related field.
• Certifications: MicroStrategy Certified Specialist/Analyst/Architect (highly preferred).
