- Receive cases in need of medical treatment directly or through referral from individuals or partner organizations.
- Assess received cases against Atfaluna’s initial eligibility criteria and inform family (in case of direct application) or referring individual or organization if the case meets/does not meet the criteria.
- Provide guidance to families to ensure other treatment opportunities have been exhausted prior to cases being presented to the medical committee and coordinate referrals to local and international NGOs.
- Complete a comprehensive socio-economic assessment for each case. This may entail conducting field visits to verify collected information.
- Prepare a list of cases that fulfill the initial eligibility criteria and present them to the medical committee during a bi-weekly meeting for review and decision.
