As an Engineer in the team you will design and implement major database components to allow Amazon Aurora to scale and perform for the growing customer demands under the project of Aurora Global Database.

We are looking for Software Development Engineers who have built a lot of software shipped products and created control planes tools and modules. You should be passionate about optimizing the software development experience at a very large scale using your strong technical skills and motivation to achieve results. You are naturally enthusiastic about learning new technologies and industry trends and are excited by the idea of solving hard technical challenges. You are empathetic and curious and will help us amplify the positive & inclusive team culture we are building.

Key job responsibilities

Delivering software features and improvements to major portions of your teams software.
Working with customers stakeholders and peers in order to understand and deliver the right solutions.
Designing software solutions to enable new features or improve existing ones.
Operational work to solve customer problems and enhance your teams operations.
Contribute to the full software development lifecycle including scoping design code code reviews testing deployment and maintenance of the teams software.

- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelors degree or above in computer science or equivalent

- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle including coding standards software architectures code reviews source control management continuous deployments testing and operational excellence
- Experience performing security activities across one or more phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) such as security design review threat modeling secure code review and security testing
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems or experience with threat modeling and penetration testing
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Data Science Information Systems or related STEM fields or experience using design patterns in object-oriented code
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers or experience with interrupt service routines
- 7 years of server storage networking or large-scale distributed systems experience
- Experience communicating complex business concepts in verbal and written form

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company Amazons package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical dental vision prescription basic life & AD&D insurance) Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) paid time off and other resources to improve health and well-being.
