Job Summary

Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA) is a managed orchestration service for Apache Airflow that makes it easier to set up and operate end-to-end data pipelines in the cloud at scale. We are looking for a software development manager to drive feature development for Amazon MWAA and contribute features to open-source Apache Airflow. You will help define technical direction build/improve core Airflow components with the Apache Airflow community and produce high quality design/code. You will also drive operational excellence of a large-scale AWS service.

Key job responsibilities
* Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture design and extensible code
* Technically lead a team of smart engineers on complex projects
* Be an advocate of industry best-practices to produce reliable fault-torrent and dependable code
* Code and test complex system modules; develop and leverage frameworks to be effective and efficient
* Participate in architecture design and code reviews to maintain our high development standards
* Own system architecture scalability reliability and performance
* Collaborate and influence other teams to deliver and operate large scale distributed services in the cloud
* Mentor other engineers defining our challenging technical culture and helping to build a fast-growing team

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company Amazons package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical dental vision prescription basic life & AD&D insurance) Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) paid time off and other resources to improve health and well-being.
