Job Summary

Want to develop software systems for a team thats at the center of the supply chain universe Sourcing Performance part of Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) is seeking a software development engineer to design build and maintain our critical purchase order and supply chain performance systems.

At Amazon we work hard to make the products our customers want and love available for purchase on our website. Last year we ordered more than 10 billion items from thousands of vendors. Each time we procure inventory there are critical financial and operational decisions that must be made and performance standards that our vendors and internal teams must meet to ensure an optimal retail experience for our customers. Sourcing Performance team owns the software systems that make key decisions about Purchase Orders (POs) create and transmit POs to vendors measure vendor performance against standards and policies and use feedback coaching and financial chargebacks to drive vendors to reduce defects in the supply chain.


Key job responsibilities
As an SDE II you will be expected to design implement and deploy changes to critical sourcing systems (with multiple dependencies) while maintaining high up-time. You will need to have a good grasp of the business and technical domain to understand how each system changes affect clients/dependencies. You will need to be able to work effectively with non-tech stakeholders () from other teams/orgs in order to gather requirements identify risks and translate business usecases to technical requirements.

A successful SDE II should also have strong technical skills to design and develop scalable maintainable and high uptime systems. They should be able to Think Big and Invent and Simplify to come up with high impact/low churn solutions to difficult problems and Deliver Results to ensure committed timelines are met despite case of issues and escalations an SDE II should be able to quickly identify investigate and resolve issues across multiple systems/teams (Bias for Action and Dive Deep).

Together you and your engineering teammates technical and product managers will work to invent the next generation of Sourcing Performance services at Amazon improve the way that we source and procure inventory and reduce sourcing defects for Earths most customer-centric company.

About the team
We are a part of the Strategic Sourcing org where we design build and maintain large scale systems to improve Amazons inbound supply chain. Specifically our team owns systems that collectively defines what are a vendors inbound supply chain capabilities and limitations. We capture and surface vendor capability information to enable large scale Amazon ordering simulations and planning.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle including coding standards software architectures code reviews source control management continuous deployments testing and operational excellence

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in professional software engineering & best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards software architectures code reviews source control management continuous deployments testing and operational excellence
- Experience building complex scalable high-performance software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company Amazons package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
