Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Shelters South - Kamloops the Shelter Manager provides leadership to the Kamloops shelter teams ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty have access to basic services at our various shelter locations. S/(he) is an experienced social sector leader who brings humility fosters positive relationships and demonstrates excellence in their work. This position will collaborate with other Mustard Seed program areas and external agencies to fulfill our mission and values.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm

Salary: $72000.00 Annually

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prioritize and provide solutions to staff concerns and guest issues. Work with the shelter team to manage internal communication facilitate meetings with staff and leaders and ensure that all staff practicum students and volunteers work effectively within our re-housing strategy.
Collaborate with all program and service areas of The Mustard Seed to provide effective referrals.
Ensure staff are properly trained and oriented and review training materials to ensure relevancy.
Liaise with HR Health and Safety and other Mustard Seed programs as well as external partners to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.
Assist with HR duties such as the hiring process and employee relations.
Facilitate monthly support meetings with department staff.
In charge of shelter staff scheduling approving timesheets and time off requests on UKG
Deal with shelter-related guest grievances. You will investigate and speak with staff when necessary to find a resolution or sufficient outcome.
Participate in Health and Safety initiatives for the greater Mustard Seed and ensure compliance with all requirements of The Mustard Seed Health & Safety program for staff visitors and volunteers.
As a Health and Safety Representative you will assist in facilitating Health and Safety meetings and ensuring Health and Safety concerns are dealt with in a timely manner.
Work with the Director of Shelters South to maintain develop and evaluate all Shelter policies procedures and budgets.
Prepare a monthly report to the Director of Shelters South that includes statistics GIK KPIs concerns successes and program updates.
Collaborate with Director of Shelters South to develop key performance indicators that will be used to monitor progress and provide measurable metrics to define the objectives for success.
Help to coordinate and participate in special events and projects as directed by the Director of Shelters South.
Organize in-house activities and programming to support the needs of the clients including life skills art therapy budgeting workshops etc.
Brief de-brief and pray with both staff and volunteer groups when necessary.
Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
A passion to be part of ending homelessness and poverty in Canada.
Bachelors degree in social science Human Services or related field is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in mental health addictions or homelessness is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with members of a multidisciplinary team and community agencies.
Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role preferably in a not-for-profit or social enterprise environment.
Experience in strategic planning program evaluation and program development
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs)
Experience with BC Housings Coordinated Access VAT and HIFIS systems considered an asset.
Superior organizational time management and advocacy skills
Strong conflict resolution skills
Possess strong initiative and good decision-making skills.
Good written and oral communication skills
Valid Class 5 driver license access to a reliable vehicle a clean drivers abstract and 2 million liability insurance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Full-time work schedule
May require time on evenings and weekends dependent on emergency situations that arise.
Office space will be provided.
Moderate physical effort
