Director, Financial Operations & Regulatory Reporting

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical strategic and hands-on Director Financial Operations & Regulatory Reporting to lead automate and scale critical accounting functions across our global this role you will gain broad exposure across various financial domains collaborating closely with executive leadership to streamline processes enhance internal controls and drive IPO readiness.
You will directly lead a global cross-functional team across Regulatory Accounting Commissions and Stock Administration serving as a critical liaison between Finance Legal Compliance Sales and People Operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment loves leveraging data to solve complex business problems and possesses a strong background in public accounting or internal audits.
Key Responsibilities
Process Automation & Global Accounting Exposure
- Process Transformation: Lead initiatives to automate and streamline accounting processes across various global functions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with executive leadership as well as Legal Compliance Engineering Sales and People Ops.
Regulatory Reporting & Customer Funds Strategy
- Strategic Oversight: Provide high-level oversight and strategy for all customer funds activity and regulatory/compliance reporting.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve anomalies in customer funds reporting collaborating with internal data and product teams to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Regulatory Liaison: Act as the core liaison between finance legal compliance and data analytics teams to ensure total accuracy of regulatory reports. Take the finance lead at meetings with the Regulators and responding to inquiries monitoring compliance for state requirements and providing strategic input.
Sales Commissions Accounting
- Compensation Plan Expertise: Gain a deep operational understanding of complex sales compensation plans approval workflows calculations and timely submission for payouts.
- Financial Estimation: Continually optimize and streamline the processes behind commission accrual calculations and monthly estimates.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary accounting touchpoint for sales representatives regarding commission data (excluding deal desk or contract negotiations).
Equity & Stock Management
- Equity Point Person: Oversee all global stock-related transactions investor transactions and secondary offerings.
- SBC & Award Accounting: Review all Stock-Based Compensation (SBC) expense reports and manage the technical accounting for equity award modifications.
- Platform Management: Own the issuance of grants including obtaining BOD approvals and manage the release of equity grants within Shareworks.
Technical Accounting Audits & IPO Readiness
- Technical Research: Lead technical accounting analysis as needed including quarterly evaluations of new accounting pronouncements affecting the organization.
- Audit Management: Drive interactions with external auditors supporting both regulatory and financial audits and ensuring audits are completed timely.
- IPO Readiness: Own and advance internal initiatives to prepare the corporate accounting functions for a potential IPO.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting or a highly analytical field. CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience with a preference for candidates coming from Public Accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or Internal Audit backgrounds.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing and developing direct reports ideally across international time zones.
- Data & Spreadsheets: Exceptional advanced Microsoft Excel skills; comfort working with massive high-volume datasets to solve complex business problems.
- Systems Knowledge: Experience with equity management platforms (e.g. Shareworks) and data visualization and AI tools (e.g. PowerBI Tableau Alteryx Claude Gemini etc.) is a major plus.
- Technical Accounting: Strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP equity accounting (SBC) and multi-entity regulatory frameworks.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders (Legal Compliance Sales People Ops).
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive and remain agile in a fast-paced rapidly scaling corporate environment.
- Attention to Detail: Intense focus on accuracy compliance and meticulous organizational design.
The anticipated base pay rate for this position is 165000 - 195000 CAD annually.
Expected Total Compensation: 165000 - 195000 CAD annually.

Final compensation will be determined through individual assessment of experience skillsqualifications and other job-relevant factors.
