POSITION TITLE:Campus Rec Assistant Intramural and Community Programs
CLASSIFICATION:Classification VII per Schedule A of the collective agreement
DEPARTMENT: Athletics & Recreational Services
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 8:30am 4:30pm
*Substitute vacancy until approximately May 2027

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The purpose of this position is to assist with the delivery planning coordination and evaluation of the Lancer Recreation Intramural and Lancer Community Programs. This position will coordinate the development promotion and operation of Intramurals and Community events/activities/programs. The incumbent will provide support in the areas of facilities student staffing training events student experiential learning recruitment and community outreach.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology/Sport Management or related field or equivalent work experience as determined by the Department
Three (3) years experience working in a sport & recreation facility and/or events services environment handling multiple team sports and implementation of intramural leagues including rules regulations risk management facility requirements equipment needs training of officials marketing promotion revenue generation budget coordination and evaluation of recreational programs (i.e. surveys web-based applications)
Experience with implementation of esports leagues and programs
Knowledge of challenge course facilitation and implementation of leadership programs in this domain
Experience in event coordination community engagement outreach and collaboration for youth programming (school boards non-for-profits businesses)
Ability to lead motivate and oversee the work of student staff
Valid and Current First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain within 3 months
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word Excel Outlook)
High Five Certifications (i.e. Quest 2 Principles of Healthy Child Development) or willingness to obtain within 3 months
Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to act with tact and diplomacy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and excellent time management skills
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
Working knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians Disability Act
Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed including weeknights and weekends.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Emergency Action Planning training
Active member of NIRSA (National Intramural & Recreational Sports Association)
Certification (or commensurate experience) in Intramural program development and evaluation
Risk Management Certification for Recreation Professionals
Experience with common recreation program management platforms (eg. ActiveNet a/or Fusion IM Leagues)
Experience with Brightspace
Proficiency in website development using Drupal.
