Who Youll be Joining:
Our Embedded QA team is looking for an Associate QA Engineer to work within the Device Platform group. Youll work closely with the Product Stakeholders Firmware Developers Hardware Engineers and other QA Engineers in a cross-functional agile will have the opportunity to be exposed to and get your hands on a variety of tools framework and technologies.
You will advocate qualityverifyandvalidate analyze and lower risks and automate tests to help build great products. Your testing starts early in thecycleand your ideas and opinion matters from planning to deployment.
Whether you are enhancing our automation infrastructure developing new test fixtures or writing and executing unit integration and end-to-end tests for our latest features there are always exciting things to work on!
This role follows a hybrid schedule with in-office work required on Wednesdays and Thursdays to support collaboration and flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.
How Youll Make an Impact:
- Design develop and execute automated test scripts within our existing frameworks to expand automation coverage for new firmware features and connectivity protocols.
- Perform comprehensive system-level testing including functional integration regression and performance testing for embedded firmware hardware interaction and application software.
- Maintain and troubleshoot lab testing infrastructure and test tools ensuring hardware setups are reliable for automated runs.
- Collaborate closely with embedded software engineers to improve code testability and define test requirements.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation for testing patterns best practices test plans test cases bug reports and any other research findings.
- Participate in all Agile activities including sprint planning code reviews and design discussions to ensure quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.
- Represent the QA team in cross-functional gatherings and advocate for quality in decision making.
What Youll Bring to the Table:
- A critical thinker with passion for quality and software testing.
- You have a natural sense of curiosityandalways find yourself tinkering with your gadgets.
- Your resourcefulness allows you to not only find problems buttoalso provide creative solutions.
- Strong coding skills in Python C or C.
- Experience with Embedded Firmware.
- Experience on software testing techniques methodologies and tools.
- You have used Selenium Robot Framework or similar frameworks.
- You have done electronic design and PCB layouts.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.
- You enjoy working in an agile environment.

Interview Process:
- Initial Screen: A 30-minute phone call with a member of the Talent Acquisition team.
- Technical Assessment: A 90-minute technical deep-dive interview with two members of the engineering team including a pair-programming style session.
- Hiring Manager Interview: A final 90-minute round with the Hiring Manager to assess your background experience technical depth and overall fit for the team.
Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in Toronto ON is $69700 - $87100 CAD. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates relevant work experience skills certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.
