As a Youth Worker you will provide safe nurturing and supportive care for children and young people in our residential settings. Youll act as a positive role model and help young people develop essential life skills build confidence and achieve their individual goals.
This is a permanent full-time position of 38 hours per week based in Springwood Queensland.
To provide the best possible support to the children and young people in our care it is important that our Youth Workers demonstrate strong flexibility with the ability to work a variety of shifts - including days evenings weekends overnights and sleepovers.
Build safe trusting relationships with children and young people through active engagement.
Provide day-to-day care supervision and support within a residential care environment.
Be a positive adult role model and encourage involvement in meaningful activities.
Support young people to develop independence confidence and essential life skills.
Promote positive relationships with family members peers and support networks.
Support family visits and connection where appropriate.
Empower young people to actively participate in decisions about their daily lives and activities.
Implement individual care plans and support strategies.
Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to the care and support provided.
Work collaboratively with colleagues families carers Child Safety and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
Respond appropriately to behaviours of concern using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
This position is based at our Springwood Queensland location and supports children and young people within our Out of Home Care services across the Logan and Gold Coast regions.
Training and team meetings will be held at our Springwood office.
To be considered for paid employment as a Youth Worker in Queensland you must:
Have completed (or be actively working toward) a relevant qualification minimum Certificate IV. Not sure if your qualification is eligible Check:
Hold an Unrestricted Drivers Licence (essential)
- Have access to a reliable vehicle and be comfortable transporting children and young people in your own vehicle when required. Your vehicle must be appropriately registered and covered by current third-party insurance.
Hold or be willing to obtain a valid First Aid & CPR certificate
Have the ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts including days evenings weekends overnights and sleepovers
Demonstrate a genuine commitment to child safety trauma-informed practice and inclusion
Demonstrate the ability to build positive and respectful relationships with children and young people
Have strong communication interpersonal and documentation skills
Be able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Previous experience working with children and young people particularly within residential care out-of-home care youth work child protection or another relevant human services environment will be highly regarded.
