A new project award has created an opportunity for one of our current WHS advisors to move to the new site. We are therefore seeking to backfill the WHS Advisors role with a skilled safety professional. Working on an 8/6 roster (day shift only) this is a busy Bulk Haulage mine site in the Goldfields so we would welcome a friendly and dedicated Safety professional to join the team.

About the Role:

The WHS Advisor is part of the site leadership team supporting the Project Manager Site Supervisors & Leading Hands to execute heavy haulage operations effectively and without harm. Well supported by the Head of QHSE & working with your B2B WHS advisor the WHS Advisor will focus on reducing risk ensuring compliance and promoting a solution focused safety culture. Focusing on our people is at the core of this role.

Job Offerings:

Key Objectives of Position:

To champion operational excellence by proactively reducing harm and continuously adding value

To contribute to the development and implementation of an effective safety management system

Maintain Merkanookas vigilance in relation to proactive risk management organisational learning and continual improvement

Develop strong relationships with clients management supervision Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs) and the workforce to develop practical solutions

Assist with effective incident response and investigation management of workers compensation and rehabilitation programmes

Position Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership & Culture

Work collaboratively within the organisation to promote support and foster a workplace culture where the team strives for operational excellence including outstanding safety performance

Establish and maintain strong relationships to embed accountability and proactive risk management

Facilitate practical site-specific WHS solutions

Provide expert WHS advice to Site Supervisors and our team

Facilitate operation of an effective Site Safety Committee

To beconsidered for this role successful applicants will possess the following:

  • Minimum Cert IV in OHS

  • 2 years in a WHS Officer/Advisors role in a busy environment preferably in the Mining/Haulage or Construction environment

  • Have excellent communication skills and understand the importance of creating a collaborative/positive work relationship with all members of the team

  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment (or ability to work towards one)

  • Strong IT skills and report writing abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Friendly open personality with a good sense of humour

  • Full Australian working rights

  • National Police Clearance
