Job Summary
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret structural blueprints engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Material Preparation: Clean mark out and prepare metal stock and structural sections.
- Cutting & Shaping: Cut metal components using hand tools flame-cutting torches and mechanized cutting equipment.
- Section Shaping: Bend and shape heavy metal plates and sections using press brakes and structural rollers.
- Fit-Up & Alignment: Align clamp and tack-weld components using precision measuring instruments.
- Advanced Joining: Execute high-quality welds using MIG TIG MMAW and FCAW processes.
- Quality & Finishing: Inspect welds for penetration and structural integrity; grind and finish surfaces to specification.
- Trade Qualification: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3
- Experience: Minimum 23 years of verifiable post-qualification experience in heavy fabrication or structural steel.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in varied welding techniques and blueprint reading.
- Standards: Experience working to Australian Standards (e.g. AS/NZS 1554.1) is highly valued.
