Job Summary

We are seeking qualified and meticulous tradespeople to cut shape join and repair structural steel components boilers pressure vessels and iron products. The successful candidates will execute tasks precisely aligned with Australian Standards and national training frameworks.

In this stable long-term role you will be responsible for cutting shaping joining and repairing structural steel components and heavy equipment. You will work within a modern workshop environment executing tasks aligned with Australian Standards and benchmarks. There are multiple roles available.

Core Responsibilities
  • Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret structural blueprints engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Material Preparation: Clean mark out and prepare metal stock and structural sections.
  • Cutting & Shaping: Cut metal components using hand tools flame-cutting torches and mechanized cutting equipment.
  • Section Shaping: Bend and shape heavy metal plates and sections using press brakes and structural rollers.
  • Fit-Up & Alignment: Align clamp and tack-weld components using precision measuring instruments.
  • Advanced Joining: Execute high-quality welds using MIG TIG MMAW and FCAW processes.
  • Quality & Finishing: Inspect welds for penetration and structural integrity; grind and finish surfaces to specification.


Requirements
  • Trade Qualification: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3
  • Experience: Minimum 23 years of verifiable post-qualification experience in heavy fabrication or structural steel.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in varied welding techniques and blueprint reading.
  • Standards: Experience working to Australian Standards (e.g. AS/NZS 1554.1) is highly valued.
  • Work Rights: Full unrestricted Australian working rights
