Job Summary

Our client is one of Australias leading tank manufacturers building world-class fuel chemical and waste tankers. With an exciting time of growth we are looking to expand the team with a number of roles recruiting NOW!

This role is for a Mild Steel Welder with Truck Chasis experience to join the fabrication team.

About the role

  • Perform high-quality structural MIG (GMAW) andFlux-Cored (FCAW) welding on heavy-gauge mild steel chassis plates
    beams and suspension mounts.
  • Set up align and position chassis railscrossmembers and running gear sub-frames into welding jigs
  • Read and precisely execute weld patterns fromcomplex engineering drawings chassis blueprints and weld procedure
    specifications (WPS)
  • Clamp jig and tack-weld componentsaccurately while managing heat input to prevent structural metal distortion.
  • Operate heavy workshop machinery including oxy LPG cutters magnetic drills grinders and saws to bevel and prepare steel for
    welding.
  • Inspect welds for profile and soundness
    ensuring all heavy-vehicle structural joins meet Australian Design Rules
    (ADRs) and structural welding standards

What Youll Bring

  • Proven experience as a structural welder or fabricator working on heavy trailerchassis truck modifications or heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Advanced proficiency in heavy-gauge mild steel MIG and multi-pass welding.
  • Strong capability to read and accurately layout work directly from technicalengineering schematics.
  • Expert knowledge of weld distortion management in long structural steelframes
  • Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade orequivalent) is highly regarded.
  • Welding Certification to AS/NZS 1554.1 (Structural Steel Welding) is highlyadvantageous.
  • High Risk Work Licence for Overhead Cranes or Forklifts (highly preferred)
