Job Summary

Your New Role:

Kempsey Shire Council is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking engineer to join our Water and Sewer team and help support sustainable growth across the region. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning assessment and protection of critical water and sewer infrastructure ensuring new development is serviced efficiently while supporting community growth environmental outcomes and long-term asset sustainability.

Whether your background is in local government consulting or utilities with the right attitude your expertise will play a key role in supporting strategic planning capital works investigations and infrastructure upgrades.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence how new development is serviced across the Kempsey Shire while working closely with developers consultants planners and operational teams. You will help shape servicing outcomes for residential commercial and industrial growth undertake hydraulic modelling and network investigations identify and prioritise future infrastructure renewals develop servicing strategies and provide specialist advice that supports sustainable growth while protecting and enhancing Councils water and sewer infrastructure for future generations.

The role combines development engineering hydraulic modelling network planning and infrastructure renewal prioritisation providing a diverse and rewarding mix of technical strategic and stakeholder-focused work.

About You:

You are acollaborative and solutions-focused engineering professionalwho enjoys workingacross technicalstrategic and customer-facing projects.

You have experience in water and sewer infrastructure planning development engineering network operations asset management hydraulic modelling design construction or a related field and understandthe importantroleessential infrastructureplays in supportingsustainable community growth.

You are confidentinterpreting engineeringdesigns hydraulic assessmentsand technical documentation and can provideclear practical advice toa broad rangeof stakeholders. Yourstrong communication andrelationship-building skillsallow you towork effectively withdevelopers consultants regulatoryagencies andinternal teams toachieve positive outcomeswhile maintaining highengineering and customerservice standards.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree qualifications inEngineering (or equivalentdemonstrated skillsand extensive experiencewithin the waterand sewer industry).
  • A current ClassC Driver Licence.
  • A General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or a willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings GIS data and reports.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities.

The following qualifications training or experiencewill be highlyregarded:

  • Experience with watersupply modelling andnetwork management usingInfoWorks WS Pro.
  • Construction on-site delivery inspection design or project management experience associated with water and sewer network infrastructure.
  • Experience in water and sewer network operations asset management development servicing infrastructure planning or renewal prioritisation.
  • Training or experience in WSAA codes and standards and network analysis development engineering or water and sewer infrastructure planning.
