An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join the team preparing for the opening of the new Regional Hospital in 2027.
This is a rare opportunity to help establish and shape contemporary womens health services within a purpose-built hospital while enjoying an exceptional coastal lifestyle.

It offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle surrounded by beaches national parks waterways and welcoming regional communities.
Moruya is located:
- Approximately two hours from Canberra
- Under four hours drive from Sydney
- Close to the Coast
- Within easy reach of beaches boating fishing cycling bushwalking and other outdoor activities
The hospital
Currently under construction the Hospital will deliver state-of-the-art facilities and expanded clinical services to communities.
The new hospital is designed to accommodate future growth it will provide a modern environment in which clinicians can influence service development clinical pathways and models of care from the outset.
The role
As a VMO/Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology you will provide comprehensive specialist care across obstetrics maternity services and a broad range of gynaecological presentations.
You will:
- Manage routine and complex obstetric and gynaecological presentations
- Work independently in managing complex and emergency cases appropriate to the services role delineation
- Collaborate with medical midwifery nursing allied health and support teams
- Contribute to the development of safe contemporary clinical pathways and models of care
- Provide clinical leadership to junior doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching supervision and professional development
- Support clinical governance audit quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives
- Work collaboratively across services and hospital sites within the Local Health District
Essential requirements
Applicants must have:
- Specialist registration or eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia through AHPRA
- FRANZCOG or an equivalent specialist qualification and recognition
- Recent clinical practice and demonstrated expertise across obstetrics and gynaecology
- The ability to work independently and manage complex emergencies appropriate to the service
- Evidence of continuing professional development clinical audit and quality-improvement participation
- Experience teaching and supervising junior medical staff trainees and students
- Strong communication teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
