Visual Design Manager

Help shape how one of NSWs most distinctive cultural institutions communicates visually with its audiences. Museums of History NSW is seeking an experienced Visual Design Manager to lead a talented design team delivering high-quality design outcomes across exhibitions marketing brand and digital is an exciting opportunity to build capability foster design excellence and help audiences connect with history through engaging visual experiences.

  • Clerk Grade 9/10. Remuneration package includes salary ($133348 - $146945) employers contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Full-time employment on an ongoing basis.
  • The role will work across Sydney.

Museums ofHistory NSW is a state cultural institution established under the Museums ofHistory NSW Act 2022. It is an agency of the NSW Department of CreativeIndustries Tourism Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS).

What youll do with us:

The Visual Design Manager isresponsible for leading and coordinating the organisations visual designfunction across brand marketing exhibition and digital outputs ensuring allwork is strategically aligned cohesive and of a consistently high standard. Itfosters a culture of thoughtful creativity and innovation encouragingapproaches that enhance audience engagement improve efficiency and respond toevolving organisational needs. Through strong leadership planning and qualitycontrol the Visual Design Manager ensures that all design outcomes effectivelycommunicate the organisations identity and contribute to the successfuldelivery of programs and initiatives.

What you need to do to apply

What you need to tell us - Targeted questions:

1. Describe a time you have led a multidisciplinary design team to deliver high-quality outcomes across multiple concurrent projects. How did you coordinate resources manage quality and respond to changing priorities

2. Provide an example of when youve aligned a design team and its work program with organisational strategy. How did you communicate priorities ensure consistency across multiple projects and measure whether the teams work contributed to organisational objectives


Essential requirements of the role:

  • Proven experience leading a multidisciplinary design team delivering high-quality brand marketing digital and/or exhibition design outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide creative direction and quality assurance ensuring alignment with brand standards and organisational objectives.
  • Strong project and workflow management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver to deadlines.
    Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to interpret briefs and manage expectations.
  • Tertiary qualifications in design or a relateddiscipline or equivalent professional experience in a comparable role.
