About the Role

Based in Macquarie Park in Sydney We are seeking a full-time Vehicle Import & Export Specialist to coordinate BYDs finished vehicle import and export operations in Australia and New Zealand. This position focuses primarily on import operations with occasional exports ATA temporary import/export vehicle returns to China and vehicle transfers between Australia and New Zealand.

The role requires strong familiarity with customs clearance port operations and DAFF biosecurity inspection procedures. The ideal candidate will coordinate with external customs brokers and internal teams to ensure accurate documentation smooth customs clearance and efficient logistics flow.

This is a fixed-term contract position with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Import & Export Operations

Manage daily import operations for finished vehicles in Australia and New Zealand including customs clearance ATA Carnet re-export and cross-border vehicle movements.

Prepare and review shipping documents (invoices packing lists bills of lading etc.) to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Monitor customs clearance biosecurity inspection and release port availability warehousing and inland transportation to support timely vehicle delivery.

2. Port & Biosecurity Management

Maintain close working relationships with customs brokers port operators biosecurity service providers and transport providers.

When a shipment is selected for inspection by ABF DAFF New Zealand Customs or MPI promptly coordinate with relevant parties to arrange inspection treatment re-inspection and vehicle release.

Resolve operational issues minimise storage and other additional costs and expedite vehicle collection and delivery.

3. Internal & External Coordination

Cooperate with external partners: customs brokers port operators freight forwarders shipping lines and warehouses.

Collaborate internally with business logistics warehouse finance and sales teams.

Resolve clearance or documentation issues promptly and proactively.

4. Data Management & System Administration

Maintain import operation records and business databases including vehicle import status customs clearance documents biosecurity release and other operational data.

Participate in business system development and digitalisation initiatives including requirements analysis interface testing and system implementation (e.g. GTS) to improve operational efficiency.

Maintain and archive customs clearance documents and related records to ensure compliance with customs audit financial reconciliation and internal compliance requirements.

Settlement & Cost Control

Verify reconcile and process import-related expenses including customs brokerage logistics port handling and other operational costs ensuring accurate and timely settlement.

Monitor and analyse additional and exceptional costs costs identify root causes and coordinate with ports logistics service providers and relevant stakeholders to minimise additional expenses and improve cost control.

Improvement

Continuously optimise customs clearance logistics operations and business processes.

Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency-improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  1. Professional working proficiency in English is required; Chinese-language skills are advantageous.

2. Sound understanding of Australian import regulations biosecurity requirements and port operations.

3. Relevant experience in automotive logistics import/export operations freight forwarding or customs brokerage is preferred ideally with at least two years of experience.

in Microsoft Office and familiar with customs and logistics systems such as ICS GTS TMS or CargoWise. Direct experience with ICS is advantageous but not essential.

must have valid working rights in Australia for the duration of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
