Shape the Future of the University of Newcastle

The University of Newcastle is a globally recognised university distinguished by excellence in education research innovation and community engagement. With campuses across Newcastle the Central Coast Sydney and regional New South Wales the University plays a vital role in transforming lives and supporting economic and social prosperity.

The University is seeking expressions of interest from outstanding members of the community to join the Universitys governing body the University Council. Council provides strategic oversight and stewardship of the University guiding its long-term success sustainability and reputation.

This appointment is for an external member of Council. External members are community members who are not current staff members or current students of the University. Alumni and others with an existing association with the University are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Equity teaching and/or research
  • Corporate governance
  • Commercial and financial management
  • Risk management and audit
  • Higher education
  • Legal expertise
  • Engagement communications or marketing
  • Commercialisation and infrastructure
  • Government or public sector leadership

Successful candidates will bring sound judgement strategic insight and a commitment to the Universitys mission and values. Experience serving on boards councils advisory bodies or in senior executive leadership roles will be highly regarded.
