The Opportunity

Port of Newcastle is seeking a Terminal Superintendent to join our Marine & Operations team.

In this role you will be coordinating safe efficient and environmentally responsible shipping and cargo operations across Port of Newcastles common user berths within the Bulk and General Cargo Precincts. You will work closely with cargo owners stevedores customers and service providers to optimise berth utilisation regulatory compliance operational performance and customer satisfaction.

This is a diverse operational role that combines terminal supervision stakeholder engagement planning and environmental compliance. Youll oversee activities across the Mayfield Kooragang and Carrington terminals while contributing to the continued improvement of terminal operations and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily terminal and berth operations to ensure safe and efficient cargo movements.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maximise terminal utilisation and operational performance.
• Manage terminal environmental compliance responsibilities and licence obligations.
• Coordinate vessel scheduling and berth sequencing to support overall port efficiency.
• Supervise the operation and servicing of cargo handling equipment and mobile plant.
• Monitor compliance with WHS security and environmental management requirements.
• Maintain operational reporting and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support terminal planning and provide recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and customer outcomes.

What Youll Bring

Previous experience in supervisory logistics (transport stevedoring warehousing and distribution) will be heavily essential to secure this opportunity. You will demonstrate effective relationship management and influencing skills with a wide range of stakeholders. Current driver license and a SafeWork NSW Forklift licence (or ability to obtain) are essential and you must be able to pass all background checks associated with attaining a Maritime Security Identification Card. Your ability to demonstrate a sound computer and administrative skills as well as being able to write detailed reports will be highly regarded.
