Job Summary

Community Housing Limited is seeking a Tenancy Operations Officer to join our Housing Services team in a unique hybrid role that combines tenancy management with property and asset operations.

This role will primarily be based across our Kempsey and Port Macquarie offices. You may be based at the office location closest to home but flexibility is required and you will be required to work from the other office location 1-2 days per week. This split between office locations may vary to meet operational needs.

While a driver licence is not an essential requirement of the role itself applicants must be able to reliably travel to and from both office locations as required. Access to reliable transport and the ability to travel between offices will therefore be necessary.

About the role

Unlike a traditional Housing Officer or Maintenance Officer position this role provides operational support across multiple functions. Youll work closely with our Housing Services Coordinators Housing Officers Responsive Maintenance team and Asset Management team stepping in where additional capacity is needed to ensure our customers continue receiving a high standard of service.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys balancing customer-focused tenancy management with practical property and maintenance coordination. One day you may be completing tenancy sign-ups managing rent reviews or attending Tribunal while the next youre coordinating responsive maintenance liaising with contractors or supporting asset-related projects.

What youll do

As the Tenancy Operations Officer youll support both the Housing Services and Property Operations teams providing a mix of tenancy management and responsive maintenance coordination.

The role is ideal for someone who likes variety. It is designed to provide operational flexibility allowing you to move between tenancy and property functions to help maintain service delivery during periods of leave peak workloads and changing operational priorities.

Day to day you will:

  • Provide operational support across tenancy and asset management activities to maintain service delivery.
  • Support the consistent application of asset policies procedures and standards.
  • Oversee responsive and vacated property maintenance liaising with contractors to support KPI delivery and undertaking on-site maintenance work as required.
  • Manage rental collection and arrears recovery processes accurately efficiently and on time.
  • Complete condition reports tenancy sign-ups entry procedures lease and rent reviews and exit procedures.
  • Coordinate reporting complaints compliance quality accountability and administrative requirements in line with CHL standards.
  • Maintain accurate property and tenancy records across required systems.

What Youll Bring

  • At least two years experience in community housing tenancy management property management maintenance coordination or a similar operational role. Experience across both tenancy and property functions will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Sound knowledge and application of WHS practices.
  • Experience supporting tenancy management rent arrears maintenance coordination compliance and customer service activities.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of people who are in housing crisis and/or have special needs or disabilities.
  • Strong communication negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills including working with business units consultants contractors support agencies and government departments.
  • Commitment to the right of every person to good quality housing.
  • A current Drivers Licence.
  • A Green/White Card or the ability to obtain one.
