Team Leader AOD

Are you an experienced AOD nurse who is dynamic solutions-focused and ready to make a genuine difference

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Team Leader AOD to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre.

This is more than a traditional clinical leadership role. Youll have the opportunity to shape the AOD service develop your team influence how care is delivered and drive meaningful improvements across a complex primary healthcare environment.

Working closely with the Health Services Manager and broader multidisciplinary team youll bring strong clinical judgement a collaborative leadership style and a practical solutions-focused approach to the delivery of high-quality person-centred AOD care.

What youll be doing

Reporting to the Health Services Manager youll provide clinical and operational leadership to the AOD team and play a key role in strengthening the service.

You will:

• Lead the delivery of specialist AOD care including assessment withdrawal management treatment planning harm reduction and referrals.
• Provide visible and supportive clinical leadership mentoring and professional guidance to the AOD team.
• Oversee the delivery of withdrawal support and the OOAT Pharmacotherapy Program.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is responsive coordinated and person-centred.
• Use your clinical expertise and judgement to identify risks solve problems and support effective decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve AOD services processes and models of care and help turn ideas into practical solutions.
• Support a positive team culture that encourages accountability collaboration learning and continuous improvement.
• Lead clinical reviews case conferences multidisciplinary meetings and quality improvement activities.
• Support staff development through education supervision and professional development.
• Promote high standards of clinical documentation care planning auditing and clinical governance.
• Build strong and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Partner with the Health Services Manager to support effective day-to-day service delivery and broader operational priorities.

Youll bring:

• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
• A postgraduate qualification in AOD or Mental Health with 5 years specialist AOD experience or 7 years specialist AOD nursing experience.
• At least 5 years post-graduate non-telehealth clinical experience including AOD care.
• Previous clinical leadership or healthcare management experience.
• Strong knowledge of AOD practice withdrawal management pharmacotherapy and trauma-informed care.
• Sound clinical judgement and the ability to confidently assess risk and make decisions in a complex environment.
• A solutions-focused mindset and the ability to look beyond the immediate problem to identify practical and sustainable solutions.
• The ability to lead change influence others and bring people with you.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A genuine commitment to developing people strengthening team capability and creating a positive workplace culture.
• An understanding of clinical governance relevant legislation policies and professional standards.
• Strong organisational digital and problem-solving skills.

Youll be comfortable working in a complex environment asking questions identifying opportunities and working with others to develop better ways of delivering care.
