Job Summary

Good Shepherd Lutheran College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Primary School Teacher (French) to join our Junior School teaching team. The successful applicant will be responsible for planning delivering and assessing French language learning programs for primary school students while also contributing to the broader primary curriculum student wellbeing and school community.

The role involves teaching French to primary-aged students in accordance with curriculum requirements and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme framework.

Duties include:

Plan prepare and deliver French language lessons to primary school students using a range of teaching techniques and materials.

Teach French language skills including speaking listening reading writing vocabulary grammar pronunciation and cultural understanding.

Present curriculum content in a manner appropriate to the age and ability of students supporting engagement and learning outcomes.

Prepare lesson plans teaching materials and classroom activities aligned with curriculum requirements.

Assess administer and mark tests assignments and classroom activities to evaluate student progress and learning outcomes.

Record and report on student progress and provide feedback to students parents and carers.

Guide classroom discussions supervise student work and maintain a safe inclusive and effective learning environment.

Manage classroom behaviour and apply appropriate teaching strategies to support student development.

Identify and respond to individual student learning needs including differentiation of instruction.

Develop students confidence and interest in French language learning through engaging and interactive teaching methods.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support curriculum delivery and student outcomes.

Participate in curriculum development professional learning and school activities.

Undertake administrative duties related to teaching assessment and reporting.

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Current Northern Territory Teacher Registration or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching at primary school level.
  • Demonstrated French language proficiency and ability to teach French to primary students.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum delivery assessment and classroom management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and development.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching French in a primary school setting.
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.
  • Experience using digital tools to support language learning.
