PositionSummary

Reporting to theHead of Tax theTaxAdvisoris responsible forproviding support to meetSquadron Energys taxrequirements and obligations.This role will focus on tax compliance as well asprovidingtax advice on a range ofbusiness initiatives and projects and tax effect accounting.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Preparation oftax returns andsupporting workpapersfortheSquadron Energygroup entities including theBAS/GST returnsandincome tax returns.

  • Preparation oftaxeffect accounting calculations and disclosures for statutory reportingpurposes.

  • Providingtax advice on a range of matters toSquadron Energys legal and commercial teams.

  • Providing tax supportand testingontheimplementation of newsystemsand system changes.

  • Conducting research on complex tax issues andpreparing tax position papers.

  • Assisting the Head of Taxon proposed transactionsrestructuringand otherbusinesschanges.

  • Assistingwithtax forecasting and budgeting.

  • Identifyand implementimprovements to taxrelatedprocesses and systems.

  • Assistingwith the implementationand maintenance ofSquadron Energys tax policy and governance framework.

  • Liaise with the Tattarang Tax teamexternal advisorsauditorsand regulatory bodies as.

Skills and experience

  • 4-5 yearsexperience in corporate taxation advisory.

  • Experience working for a Big 4 accounting firm or tax division of a large corporate.

  • Strong corporate tax compliance and advisory experience ideally inboth direct and indirect taxes.

  • Strongaccountingand numerical skills.

  • Experiencewith usinga large corporate accounting system (such as SAP)will be highly regarded.

  • Experience working in the energy and/or renewable sector will be highly regarded.

  • Experience working with trust structures will be highly regarded.

Skills

  • Ability toprovidecommercially relevant tax advice.

  • High levelof attention to detail.

  • Technologically competent with amindset of automation and process improvement.

  • Stakeholder management and good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adopt pragmatic and level-headed approach to ensure quick turnaround when providing advice and support to a fast growing and dynamic organisation.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Advanced computer software skills including Excel and accounting packages.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting Finance Commerce Taxation or Law.

  • Professional qualification such as a CA or CPA and/or Master of Taxation.
