Job Description Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our Group Finance team. Reporting to the Tax Manager you will play a key role in supporting the organisations tax and financial accounting functions ensuring compliance with accounting standards company policies and statutory obligations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to further develop their tax and financial reporting expertise within a large national business.

Please note this is a 36-month contract role based out of our Collins Street office supporting hybrid working arrangements.

About the Role

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and lodge monthly BAS returns and corporate PAYG instalments for the Group and associated joint ventures.
  • Assist with the preparation of income tax provisions and income tax returns.
  • Support the Tax Manager with ad hoc tax projects and compliance activities.
  • Ensure tax obligations are met accurately and within required deadlines.

Financial Accounting

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Review month-end results and investigate variances identifying and correcting posting errors.
  • Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations and provide clear support for all balances.
  • Investigate and resolve unidentified or unusual balance sheet items.
  • Identify financial risks and issues and escalate where appropriate.
  • Monitor and clear aged unreconciled or incorrectly posted transactions.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Take ownership of centralised finance processes that support the broader business.

About you

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a finance accounting or taxation role.
  • A degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or working towards completion) highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
