About the Opportunity

The Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC) is responsible for enabling Armys digital network integration efforts to ensure interoperability across Land Joint and Coalition environments.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Systems Engineer to join the newly established Integrated Sensor Architecture National Office (ISANO) under Project AMP06006. This role will play a critical part in supporting the adoption and integration of the Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA) across Army tactical networks and future capability programs.

Working within the LNIC Modelling and Standards Team the successful candidate will provide systems engineering expertise technical governance integration assurance and Test & Evaluation (T&E) support for Armys ISA implementation and prototyping activities.

Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering
  • Develop and maintain Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP).
  • Develop and maintain Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP).
  • Define stakeholder needs requirements architecture artefacts verification and validation plans.
  • Prepare and support design reviews requirements reviews and test readiness reviews.
  • Exercise delegated technical authority for ISA prototyping activities.
Integration and Technical Assurance
  • Support the establishment of ISANO within the Armys Land Capability environment.
  • Provide technical advice regarding the implementation of the Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA).
  • Support capability integration across Land Domain tactical networks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Defence engineering architecture assurance and governance frameworks.
  • Assist Army projects integrating ISA-compliant sensor capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Engage with Defence industry engineering and technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and technical direction of ISA implementation.
  • Support senior leadership through technical assessments reports and briefings.
  • Collaborate with Army CASG project offices and technical authorities.
Risk and Governance
  • Identify analyse and manage technical risks.
  • Ensure engineering governance compliance within ISANO product lines.
  • Support assurance and compliance activities relating to system integration and capability delivery.
  • Contribute to verification validation and operational test activities.
Reporting
  • Prepare fortnightly project status reports.
  • Contribute to monthly project situation reports (SITREPs).
  • Produce engineering documentation technical artefacts and presentations.
  • Provide engineering advice and recommendations to Defence stakeholders.


Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Bachelors Degree (4 years or higher) in Systems Engineering Software Engineering Computer Engineering Electronic Engineering Mechatronics or related discipline.
  • Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia or equivalent professional body.
  • Significant Systems Engineering experience within ICT Defence or complex technology environments.
  • Experience supporting complex C4 (Command Control Communications and Computing) systems.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting systems integration verification validation and Test & Evaluation activities.
  • Ability to hold or exercise engineering design authority.
Highly Desirable Skills
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
  • More than 10 years experience in Defence C4I systems engineering.
  • Experience with military communications networks software-intensive systems and interoperability standards.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
  • Experience in safety-critical systems or software assurance.
  • Technical leadership and stakeholder engagement at senior executive level.
  • Experience supporting Defence acquisition capability development and systems integration programs.
  • Strong understanding of communications networking protocols and data standards.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous Australian Defence Force (ADF) service.
  • Experience working within Defence CASG Army Headquarters or related Defence organisations.
  • Knowledge of Defence Capability System (DCS) processes.
  • Defence engineering governance and Land Worthiness processes.
  • Project management experience including scheduling risk management and reporting.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
Working Arrangements
  • Primary work location: Symonston ACT.
  • Full-time onsite attendance is preferred.
  • Limited remote working arrangements may be considered.
  • Domestic travel may be required.
  • A three-month probation period applies
