The Role
We are seeking a Support Worker based at our Serenity Lodge site in Rockingham to providesupport and guidance to residents within the low medical withdrawal unit. This position requires maintaining an active supportive presence within the unit to promote a safe and recovery-orientedenvironment.
The Support Worker is responsible for delivering both practical support and case management to residents undergoing withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. This includes working collaboratively with the clinical team to develop and implement appropriate treatment plans facilitate referrals to external services and assist in structured exit and aftercare plans to support residents in maintaining their recovery goals post-discharge.
In addition the role involves the delivery of structured programs and activities within the unit. This includes facilitating educational and therapeutic group sessions and leading recreational and leisure activities that contribute to residents overall wellbeing and engagement in the unit.
The position is offered as part-time working 45 hours PFN.
To be successful in this role you will require the following key attributes:
- Understanding of alcohol and other drug use issues.
- Experience working with consumers experiencing alcohol and other drug issues.
- Demonstrated effective written verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of services and community resources relevant to the AOD sector.
- Experience and knowledge of withdrawal and harm minimisation.
- Well-developed time and self-management skills; ability to work with limitedsupervision.
- Sound computer skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and act withdiplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
- Full work rights current National Police Clearance WWC current Drivers Licence and First Aid Certificate.
If you are a person with a lived experience of addiction we require at least two years of abstinence from AOD use at the time of application and a commitment to remain abstinent.
