About the role
AEMOs Corporate Strategy team shapes our organisations direction. We develop AEMOs long-term vision priorities and goals and we advise the Board CEO and Executive Leadership Team on the opportunities challenges and trends ahead close analysis of the energy industry and of AEMOs own performance and gives leaders a whole-of-organisation view. We also turn that strategy into clear plans the business can act on.
Reporting to the Group Manager Strategy you will join a small close-knit team. You will analyse Australias energy system and the trends shaping it look at how comparable organisations approach strategy and bring insights to the Board Executive and senior leaders. You will help set AEMOs strategic priorities and support the planning process behind them. The work feeds directly into the decisions AEMOs leaders make about the energy transition.
What you will be doing
Your work spans the full strategic planning cycle from long-term strategy through to the annual corporate plan.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out complex strategic analysis and build and apply the right frameworks and tools
- Monitor and assess energy sector trends in Australia and overseas.
- Turn that analysis into clear insights and recommendations for AEMO.
- Help shape AEMOs strategic roadmaps plans and initiatives.
- Contribute to the annual corporate plan and the work behind it.
- Track how these initiatives and their performance measures are delivered across AEMO.
What you will bring to the role
We are looking for a sharp strategic thinker who knows the energy sector and has worked in consulting corporate strategy energy operations or energy policy.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as engineering science economics or commerce.
- Experience in a strategy role ideally in a leading consulting firm an in-house corporate strategy team or the energy industry.
- Strong analytical and modelling skills with the ability to structure and run analysis efficiently using the tools at hand.
- Clear structured thinking and sound problem-solving with the ability to frame issues and to build and test hypotheses rigorously.
- A strong communicator who has engaged directly with senior leaders.
