Toowoomba Grammar School is looking for a StateDevelopment Swimming Coach to deliver a structured highquality swimming program supporting athletes through to competitivepathways. Working closely with the Head Coach it focuses onathlete development and progression while building strongrelationships with the school and families to support a positiveteam culture.

Toowoomba Grammar School was founded in 1875 and is a memberschool of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland(GPS). It is an independent non-denominational day andboarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1200 fromPreparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boardersin the School coming predominantly from throughout QueenslandNorthern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. TheSchools campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometrefrom the centre of Toowoomba.

About the Position

This pivotal role contributes to the delivery of a high qualityswimming program that supports athletes from post learn to swimthrough to Australian Age and Open competition levels. Workingclosely with the Head of Swimming/Head Coach this position focuseson athlete development squad progression and pathway planningwhile fostering strong relationships with students families andthe broader school and club community.

The role involves coaching across multiple squads supportingtraining design and delivery contributing to competitions andevents and maintaining high standards of safety wellbeing andprogram administration. This is a dynamic position requiringflexibility with early mornings evenings and some weekend andschool vacation work suited to an energetic and motivated coachcommitted to the development and coaching of young athletes.

Selection Criteria:

You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitmentto:

  • ASCTA Development Coach Accreditation and Lifeguard Qualification along with First Aid CPR and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to plan and deliver structured age and ability appropriate training programs
  • Experience assessing swimmer ability and supporting progression through squad pathways
  • Understanding of athlete development safety and wellbeing in a youth or school environment
  • Strong administrative capability including maintaining records reports and program data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with students families coaches and staff
  • Proven ability to build relationships and contribute positively within a team environment
  • A proactive energetic approach with a genuine passion for coaching and athlete development
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
