What you will be doing in this role
In this varied and rewarding role you will provide care to patients across our Oncology Stroke Surgical ICU General Medical and Rehabilitation wards. You will play an integral role in screening assessing and diagnosing speech communication and swallowing disorders while delivering evidence-based patient-centred interventions tailored to each individuals needs.
This is a casual position providing ad-hoc leave coverage for our existing team. Shifts are Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm offering flexibility while providing the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to patient care.

Who were looking for
You are a qualified Speech Pathologist with relevant experience within a hospital acute care & rehabilitation setting. You bring strong clinical skills in patient centred speech therapy care that is evidence based involving thorough screening assessments diagnosis and interventions using safe and current techniques for communication and swallowing disorders.
When indicated you may utilise instrumental dysphagia assessments including FEES. Your commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development sets you apart.
- Thorough knowledge of communication and swallowing assessments and interventions.
- Experience in FEES and/or VFSS desirable.
- Youll be a member of SPA (or eligible to be).
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly can-do positive attitude when working with others with the desire to go above and beyond when interacting with patients their families visitors and your colleagues.
- Proven experience thriving in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
- The ability to be collaborative adaptable work well within a team environment along with being able to work independently
- You work just as confidently on your own as you do within a multidisciplinary team and have the proven ability to take initiative and employ independent professional judgement as needed.
