Whats the role

This role sits within the Customer Platform unit which owns a critical enterprise platform delivering customer data capabilities across onboarding servicing and product origination through both staff-facing and digital channels. Ensuring high availability strong performance and resilience at scale is essential to enabling seamless and reliable customer experiences.

This is not a traditional SRE leadership role. It is a hands-on engineering position with a strong focus on AI driven performance testing and intelligent automation at a platform level. The role is centred on building automation first capabilities reducing manual effort and driving predictive reliability through modern tooling and AI adoption.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement AI-driven performance testing and automation frameworks to validate scalability resilience and system reliability.
  • Embed shift-left automation-first testing practices into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous low-touch validation.
  • Use AI and advanced tools to generate test scenarios analyse performance trends and identify bottlenecks early.
  • Define monitor and maintain SLIs SLOs and performance baselines to ensure consistent reliability outcomes.
  • Establish intelligent observability and AIOps practices including proactive monitoring and self-healing capabilities to improve issue detection and resolution.

What do I need

  • Strong experience in performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter Gatling k6 LoadRunner).
  • Proven expertise in automation frameworks and scripting (Python Java or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD DevOps and infrastructure automation.
  • Solid understanding of SRE principles including SLIs SLOs and reliability engineering practices.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk Elastic Observability).
  • Exposure to AI-enabled testing AIOps or intelligent automation tools.
  • Experience in banking or regulated environments exposure to enterprise platforms (Oracle/Siebel) knowledge of resilience practices and an interest in AI adoption would be considered advantageous.
