About this opportunity

The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing shift operations and leading a team of approximately 10 Production Operators. Reporting to the Production Manager the role is accountable for delivering safe efficient and high-quality production outcomes in line with operational targets and standards. A key focus of the role is developing team capability supporting maintenance activities and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and operational performance.

Available shift: Night - 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and coordinate daily shift operations to achieve production targets optimize efficiency and meet DIFOT (Delivered In Full On Time) requirements.
  • Supervise and support Production Operators ensuring they are prepared engaged and performing effectively at the start of each shift.
  • Ensure compliance with site SOPs quality standards and housekeeping requirements holding team members accountable for performance.
  • Develop team capability through skills monitoring training coordination and on-the-job coaching to maintain a competent workforce.
  • Facilitate effective communication across operations providing shift handovers escalating issues impacting customer delivery and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve production challenges.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role youll have:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a Shift Leader or similar manufacturing leadership role.
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; plastics recycling experience is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop small teams in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Experience working in a 24/5 operation with a strong focus on safety quality and productivity.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience with extrusion machinery is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong English communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead teams and collaborate with stakeholders across the business.
