We are hiring a technically skilled client-focused Surveyor to become part of our Marine & Offshore (M&O) team in Perth Western Australia. This role plays a key part in delivering Lloyds Registers classification and assurance services across a diverse portfolio of marine and industrial projects throughout the region.
Working closely with clients shipyards fabricators asset owners and operators you will undertake a broad range of activities including surveys of existing ships new construction projects Marine Equipment Certification (MEC) surveys and in-service inspection and classification activities.
With significant development taking place across the Henderson precinct and the wider Perth region this role offers exposure to high-profile projects and the opportunity to work with a broad range of stakeholders while helping ensure the safe efficient and compliant delivery of marine assets and services.

The role
- Carry out classification surveys of existing ships in accordance with Lloyds Register Rules international conventions statutory regulations and applicable industry standards.
- Perform surveys and inspections during new construction projects ensuring compliance with approved plans specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Marine Equipment Certification (MEC) surveys and inspections for marine equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
- Undertake in-service inspection classification and statutory survey activities across a wide range of vessel types and marine assets.
- Provide timely practical and technically sound advice to clients regarding classification compliance and certification requirements.
- Develop and sustain productive relationships with clients shipyards fabricators asset owners operators and other industry stakeholders.
- Support project delivery across Western Australia while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and service quality.
- Prepare accurate survey reports certification documentation and technical records in accordance with Lloyds Register procedures.
- Collaborate with internal technical specialists and operational teams to deliver consistent high-quality services.
- Contribute to business development opportunities by identifying customer needs and supporting the growth of Lloyds Register services in the region.
- Uphold high standards of quality health safety environmental responsibility and ethics in every activity.
- Stay up to date with classification rules statutory regulations and emerging technologies within the marine and offshore sectors.
What you bring
- Experience as a Marine Surveyor New Construction Surveyor Marine Engineer Naval Architect or in a similar technical role within the maritime industry.
- Knowledge of classification society rules statutory regulations and international maritime conventions.
- Experience carrying out surveys of existing ships and/or new construction projects.
- Experience with Marine Equipment Certification (MEC) activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of marine systems shipbuilding inspection processes or vessel operations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings specifications standards and regulatory requirements.
- Effective skills in managing customer relationships and engaging stakeholders.
- Highly effective communication skills both in writing and verbally with experience preparing concise technical reports.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining high-quality standards.
- A recognised degree or equivalent qualification in Naval Architecture Marine Engineering Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Eligibility to work in Australia and willingness to travel throughout Western Australia as required.
- A valid driving licence.
