The Workplace Facilities and Property team delivers strategic property services that support the Citys long-term growth and operational objectives. From acquiring land for major infrastructure projects to managing Council property assets and facilitating complex divestments the team plays a vital role in shaping the future of the Gold Coast.

As part of a collaborative and highly skilled team youll work on a diverse portfolio of property matters that directly contribute to the Citys continued growth and development.

About the role

As the Senior Property Officer Acquisitions & Divestments youll provide expert property advice and lead the delivery of the Citys land acquisition divestment and valuation programs. Youll work closely with internal stakeholders external consultants landowners and government agencies to negotiate complex property matters while ensuring compliance with legislative and governance requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your technical property expertise negotiation skills and project management capability to deliver meaningful outcomes that support major infrastructure community projects and strategic land management across the City.

• Lead the delivery of the Citys land acquisition divestment and property management programs in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
• Prepare valuation reports that meet industry and audit standards to support land acquisitions disposals transfer duty assessments and residential market rental determinations.
• Provide expert property advice to City branches consultants industry professionals and the public on complex acquisition and divestment matters.
• Prepare and review reports for Council ensuring property advice is accurate commercially sound and aligned with legislative requirements.
• Project manage complex property transactions from initiation through to settlement coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
• Negotiate settlements for complex property matters including representing the City during Land Court mediations and hearings where required.
• Prepare and review legal and property documentation including settlement deeds Notices of Intention to Resume and title documentation.
• Manage the Citys annual land asset valuation program and contribute to continuous improvement across property management practices.
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders government agencies consultants landowners and the broader community.

Were looking for people who have:

Youre an experienced property professional with strong commercial acumen exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex property transactions from inception to completion. You thrive in a collaborative environment enjoy building strong stakeholder relationships and can confidently provide strategic property advice across a broad range of matters.

Ideally you will have:

• Registration as a Registered Valuer in Queensland and be an Associate Member (Certified Practising Valuer) of the Australian Property Institute (API) or hold equivalent qualifications or extensive demonstrated experience in a property-related discipline.
• Extensive experience managing complex property acquisitions divestments leasing or land management projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Acquisition of Land Act Land Valuation Act Land Act and associated statutory requirements.
• Proven experience preparing property valuations market assessments and professional property reports.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver outcomes within competing timeframes.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with experience managing complex property settlements and stakeholder relationships.
• Highly developed written communication skills including preparing Council reports briefing papers and professional correspondence.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills with the ability to provide practical risk-based property advice.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement customer service and delivering high-quality outcomes.
