About the role

Our Threatened Species and Ecosystems Policy team is looking to backfill several upcoming vacancies at the Senior Policy Officer level (EO9).

The roles have the following focuses:

  • Drive and support the redesign of the Biodiversity Conservation Program redesign
  • Coordinate NSW DCCEEW responses and provide advice to the Minister on National Recovery Plans and Threat Abatement Plans.
  • Work closely with stakeholders; ensure a collaborative strategic and integrated approach in delivering program outcomes.
  • Providing policy advice and service policy functions (e.g. briefing requests ministerial responses coordination of input talking points etc)
  • Support delivery of the Koala Conservation Strategy

About You

We are seeking strategic and analytical policy professionals with experience developing and implementing conservation policy and providing evidence-based advice on complex environmental issues. Senior Policy Officers in our team contribute to the development of environmental policy initiatives provide strategic advice to support decision-making and work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop solutions that achieve positive conservation outcomes.

You will be a critical thinker with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate sound judgement initiative and resilience and be comfortable working independently while building effective relationships across the Department and with external stakeholders.

Successful applicants will have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality fit-for-purpose work within tight timeframes while contributing to a respectful and collaborative team culture and upholding DCCEEWs values and behaviours in all aspects of their work.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and relevant experience
