We are seeking an experienced Senior Performance Auditor. Individuals with a background in internal or external audit policy analysis and implementation or research and evaluation will bring skills key to the successful delivery of the Senior Performance Auditor this role you will contribute to the delivery of the Audit Office vision mission values goals and strategies by undertaking complex research and analysis to support the development of key performance audit conclusions and findings. You will also be undertaking specific performance audit assignments as part of a team to deliver high-quality performance audits with a range of complexity depending on skills and experience.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Ensureall audit work within personal responsibility is completed effectively and efficiently and meets the requirements of the Audit Offices audit methodology professional standards and legislation.
- Collect check and analyse information related to matters of audit interest to provide a basis of audit evidence to support findings and conclusions including detailed analysis of both quantitative and qualitative information.
- Build personal competency knowledge and technical proficiency to contribute to more complex audit assignments.
- Ensure quality and timely audit outcomes are achieved by maintaining strong and professional relationships with clients and proactively communicating with internal external stakeholders.
- Collaboratewith relevant Financial Audit staff to help identify risks and challenges in relevant areas of the public sector.
- Identify critical issues that may adversely impact outcomes and escalate them appropriately.
- Assist in providing sound and well-reasoned audit documentation to support conclusions and recommendations made in reports to parliament.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of Performance Audit Branch objectives including embracing developments in performance audit systems and processes and other strategic change initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with the Audit Office Code of Conduct and all other internal policies business rules and procedures including records management and workplace health and safety policies.

We are seeking someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills strong interpersonal skills and good professional judgement to solve problems. The ideal candidate will have the proficiency to analyse complex substantial and contrasting information and distil it into relevant audit evidence. They will be able to contribute to the drafting of compelling reports that address objectives and criteria with findings and conclusions that are supported by appropriate and well-presented evidence within a defined time and budget. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management employees and other key stakeholders.
You will also need:
- A tertiary qualification in an appropriate analytic discipline such as business economics social science or law and/or significant relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in research and analysis policy implementation and/or evaluation.
- Understanding and knowledge of how the public sector operates.
- Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.
- Successful police check.

On offer is a 35-hour work week and a total remuneration package (including superannuation) from $122681 to $164783 per annum depending on your experience skills and capabilities.

The Audit Office is committed to supporting flexible working arrangements to create a diverse skilled and motivated workforce capable of delivering quality products and efficient services. Our standard way of working requires you to work at least 50% of contracted hours from either our head office an auditee location or a related worksite. If required you can balance your attendance on-site over a month with a minimum of one day per week in one of these locations.
Please note some regional travel within New South Wales may be required for this role.
