About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Payroll Partner to join our People and Culture team in Forrestfield.

This role is responsible not only for delivering accurate and timely payroll services but also for strengthening payroll governance uplifting operational maturity and leading continuous improvement and change initiatives across the payroll function.

You will act as a trusted partner to leaders and stakeholders ensuring payroll practices are compliant controlled scalable and aligned with evolving organisational and regulatory requirements.

A key component of this role is to lead and influence a maturity uplift agenda embedding structured consistent and auditable payroll processes while supporting broader organisational change.

Key Responsibilities Payroll Delivery Compliance & Governance
  • Deliver end-to-end payroll processing accurately and on time across fortnightly and monthly cycles
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with legislation awards enterprise agreements and company policies with a proactive approach to regulatory change
  • Establish and maintain strong payroll controls governance practices and audit readiness
  • Maintain accurate payroll records reconciliations and reporting to support transparency and compliance assurance
  • Identify assess and mitigate payroll-related risks through improved controls and monitoring
Process Maturity & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive uplift in payroll maturity by embedding standardised scalable and documented processes
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements across systems workflows and controls
  • Develop and utilise metrics reporting and insights to enhance decision-making and performance visibility
  • Reduce reliance on manual or inconsistent practices by introducing structured repeatable processes aligned to best practice
Change Management & Transformation
  • Lead and support payroll-related change initiatives including system process and compliance changes
  • Influence and support stakeholders through change using structured approaches clear communication and impact awareness
  • Ensure change initiatives are effectively implemented adopted and sustained across the business
  • Champion a mindset of continuous improvement accountability and adaptability
Stakeholder Partnership & Advisory
  • Partner closely with leaders People & Culture Finance and external providers to deliver trusted payroll expertise
  • Provide guidance on complex payroll matters compliance risks and process improvements
  • Build strong relationships to support consistency accountability and alignment across the business
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior payroll role supporting a workforce of 300 employees
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation awards compliance frameworks and governance requirements
  • Proven experience supporting audit risk management and compliance assurance processes
  • Exposure to Workers Compensation and injury management frameworks
  • Ability to drive process improvement and operational maturity within a payroll function
  • Experience contributing to or leading change initiatives in payroll or related functions
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and a risk-aware mindset
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • A proactive resilient and solutions-focused approach
  • Demonstrated conviction and courage to lead change uplift standards and embed disciplined mature ways of working
