About the opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer in the IT Services team based in Launceston.
This person will lead and manage the Universitys computer networks to make sure they are reliable secure and running well across all campuses. This includes wired and wireless networks internet connections data centres and cloud systems. Their work supports teaching research and daytoday operations. They will be the goto expert for network matters helping make technical decisions mentoring other IT staff and contributing to planning and improving the Universitys systems. The role also involves looking after all network infrastructure including maintaining and upgrading systems like switching routing wireless and security this role you will need to write clear technical documentation and provide advanced support when there are complex network issues.
What youll do:
- Lead and manage the Universitys network operations to ensure systems are reliable secure and performing well.
- Provide expert technical advice and solve complex network issues across a large multicampus environment.
- Support and mentor network team members building capability and improving team performance.
- Work collaboratively across IT teams and stakeholders to deliver projects and resolve endtoend service issues.
- Oversee network infrastructure and improvements including planning upgrades documentation and multiple projects.
Role Specific Skills Knowledge and Experience:
- Proven experience with enterprise network technologies including switching routing wireless and network security.
- Handson experience with Palo Alto (firewalls Panorama Global Protect) and network security platforms.
- Experience with identity and access solutions (e.g. Aruba ClearPass) and integration with cloud platforms (Azure AD etc.).
- Strong knowledge of core networking protocols and technologies (e.g. BGP OSPF MPLS QoS IPv6).
- Experience with SDWAN and modern network architectures (e.g. Aruba Edge Connect / Silver Peak desirable).
- Strong problemsolving skills with experience in incident response risk mitigation and working in critical environments.
- Ability to deliver and support network projects including documentation change management and collaboration across teams.
Qualifications and Licences
- A tertiary qualification in computing or a related field or equivalent experience in an ICT support or enterprise networking environment.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP Aruba Professional/Expert or equivalent (highly desirable).
- Current C class drivers license or manual vehicle license.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130943 comprising base salary within the range of $101821 to $111917 plus 17% superannuation.
