As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas electric vehicles and wind turbines.
Lynas Rare Earths is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead mine planning and optimisation activities ensuring the safe cost-effective and efficient extraction of ore while supporting operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster.
As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team you will:
Develop and maintain short medium and longer-term mine plans
Monitor mining performance and report against operational targets
Provide technical support to daily mining and production activities
Review and approve contractor drill and blast plans
Analyse mining costs and identify operational improvement opportunities
Support contractor management and ensure compliance with mining contract requirements
Conduct inspections and audits in line with Lynas safety standards
Participate in incident investigations and safety improvement initiatives
Liaise closely with geology and operations teams to support accurate ore extraction
Mentor and develop mining department personnel
What you will bring to the team:
Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
WA Manual Drivers Licence required
Quarry Manager Ticket desirable
Extensive experience within open pit mining operations in a similar role
Strong drill and blast design experience
Experience using Surpac MinSched MPX Pronto and MS Office
Strong mine planning analytical and reporting capability
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities
