Senior Mining Engineer

Our Rare Earths mine at Mt Weld Western Australia is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths deposits in the world and we operate the worlds largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia so youre joining a very unique team! As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas electric vehicles and wind turbines.

Lynas Rare Earths is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead mine planning and optimisation activities ensuring the safe cost-effective and efficient extraction of ore while supporting operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster.

As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team you will:

• Develop and maintain short medium and longer-term mine plans
• Monitor mining performance and report against operational targets
• Provide technical support to daily mining and production activities
• Review and approve contractor drill and blast plans
• Analyse mining costs and identify operational improvement opportunities
• Support contractor management and ensure compliance with mining contract requirements
• Conduct inspections and audits in line with Lynas safety standards
• Participate in incident investigations and safety improvement initiatives
• Liaise closely with geology and operations teams to support accurate ore extraction
• Mentor and develop mining department personnel

What you will bring to the team:

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
• WA Manual Drivers Licence required
• Quarry Manager Ticket desirable
• Extensive experience within open pit mining operations in a similar role
• Strong drill and blast design experience
• Experience using Surpac MinSched MPX Pronto and MS Office
• Strong mine planning analytical and reporting capability
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities
