In this role youll:
Be part of TfNSWs Legal and Governance branch - one of the largest in-house government legal teams in NSW with close to 100 lawyers across four specialist groups.
TfNSW Legal provides support in respect of a wide array of NSW Motorways functions. That currently includes NSW Motorways governance frameworks; the day-to-day administration and management of all of the various Motorway Project Deeds; the delivery of the M7-M12 Integration Project; the NSW Governments Toll Reform project; and the administration of toll relief schemes.
You will deliver high quality solutions focused legal services across practice areas such as contract/commercial and property. This includes providing timely practical legal advice that supports the Transport clusters statutory policy and contractual obligations while effectively managing legal risk.
You will also lead the drafting and negotiation of complex legal documents provide clear statutory and contractual interpretation and represent the organisation in dispute resolution court and tribunal matters in line with the Model Litigant Policy.
This permanent position is governed by our hybrid working model which forms part of the organisations Flexible Working Arrangements and associated procedures. This includes a combination of required onsite attendance at our Elizabeth Street office in Sydney CBD and approved remote working.

About you
Youll possess a minimum of seven years relevant legal experience and hold an unrestricted practising certificate.
Youll have a proven track record working on high value complex commercial contracts either from within an in-house legal function of a large complex organisation or in private practice providing strategic level advice across a diverse client base including public sector / government.
You act as a key point of contact for clients model the highest standards of integrity and professional and are able to step in for senior team members when required.
Youll have the ability to communicate and influence effectively and inspire confidence in clients as they grapple with high profile and often challenging issues.
You can work autonomously and lead and manage challenging negotiations draft complex contracts and have strong business acumen analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions within a legal context.
