The Opportunity

This is where the Senior Legal Counsel role comes in.

This is a newly created opportunity designed for someone who is excited by the idea of shaping something meaningful. You will play a central role in evolving the legal function into a contemporary best practice in house team. Along the way you will partner closely with Boards Committees Executive teams and stakeholders across the business offering trusted advice that enables confident well informed decision making.

It is a role that goes beyond day to day legal work. You will be involved in a broad range of interesting and complex matters build strong relationships across Netwealth and contribute to the direction and maturity of the legal function as a whole.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings both depth of expertise and a genuine appetite to make an impact.

You are a qualified lawyer admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor with a current practising certificate. With over five years of experience in financial services law whether in house or in private practice you have developed a strong technical foundation and a clear understanding of what best practice legal support looks like within an organisation.

More than that you are someone who is comfortable navigating change and contributing to it. You enjoy finding better ways of doing things and can balance strategic thinking with hands on delivery.

Your experience tells a broader story:

  • You have worked within wealth or financial services with exposure to managed investments IDPS or superannuation highly valued

  • You bring a strong understanding of financial services regulation including the Corporations Act Superannuation Industry Supervision Act and APRA Prudential Standards

  • You are confident drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements including distribution and platform arrangements

  • You have supported product governance disclosure documentation and regulatory change initiatives

  • You are able to step between big picture thinking and managing individual matters with care and precision

  • You are a clear communicator who can translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance. You build trust with stakeholders manage your time well and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative fast moving environment.
