• Provide academic support clinical teaching and pastoral care for students of the Doctor of Medicine Program delivered at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo NSW

• Part-time up to 0.4 FTE continuing funding contingent role

• Base salary of $162347 (pro rata) 17% superannuation clinical loading

About the opportunity

The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 2022 The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams; a Metropolitan stream based on the Universitys Camperdown campus in Sydney and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo.

We have a position available for a Senior Lecturer (Education-Focused Clinical Education) Academic Support who will undertake a range of duties related to the implementation of the curriculum as well as teaching and learning activities for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program (Dubbo Stream). In addition to teaching this position will provide academic support mentoring and pastoral support of medical students in Dubbo.

This position is located at Dubbo with limited travel between rural and metropolitan sites required for this position. Some out-of-hours work is also required for this role.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health is the largest faculty in the University and contains seven academic schools Medical School is one of these and includes both metropolitan and rural Clinical Schools

Your key responsibilities:

• design deliver and evaluate high-quality clinical education for Doctor of Medicine students in Dubbo

• teach coach mentor and provide academic and pastoral support to students in rural clinical settings

• develop contemporary practice-informed teaching resources with a focus on rural health

• contribute to curriculum implementation scholarship research administration and governance across the School and Faculty

• support student and staff orientation induction wellbeing and compliance requirements for the Sydney Medical Program and relevant rural health training programs.

• fulfil governance and compliance requirements of the Sydney Medical Program Doctor of Medicine and the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program/Murray Darling Medical Schools Program parameters

• support the orientation and induction of students and staff to the area.

About you:

• Bachelor of Medicine (MB) Doctor of Medicine (MD) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.

• PhD or other relevant higher academic or professional qualification in a discipline relevant to the role.

• Fellowship of a relevant Australasian medical specialist college or equivalent.

• Current AHPRA registration.

• Current or recent clinical experience within the Australian healthcare system.

• Experience in clinical teaching learning and student support within a tertiary medical education environment ideally in rural health.

• Demonstrated experience supervising mentoring and coordinating successful team activities.

• Recognised professional leadership in a clinical specialty supported by strong networks and strategic alliances.

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to rural health.

• Current drivers licence.
