• Takes a practical and commercially focused approach balancing legal risk with clients broader project and business objectives

About the role:

• Acting on complex construction and infrastructure disputes for contractors subcontractors and other major project participants
• Managing multi-million dollar claims involving variations delay and disruption extensions of time liquidated damages defects design issues termination and contractual entitlements
• Acting in Security of Payment adjudications and advising both claimants and respondents on payment disputes
• Running complex litigation and assisting with matters before superior courts
• Advising on dispute strategy and representing clients through negotiation mediation adjudication expert determination and arbitration
• Working closely with clients throughout project delivery to identify risks preserve contractual entitlements and resolve disputes commercially
• Taking responsibility for matters supervising junior lawyers and developing strong client relationships

The ideal candidate:

• Senior Associate with 5 years PQE and strong back-end construction experience
• Experience in construction litigation adjudication and/or major project disputes
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and the issues that commonly arise during project delivery
• Experience with Security of Payment legislation will be highly regarded
• Strong drafting technical and strategic dispute resolution skills
• Commercial and pragmatic approach to advising clients
• Comfortable managing matters with a high level of autonomy while working collaboratively within a specialist construction team
