Were currently partnering with a global infrastructure and energy developer that is playing a key role in accelerating Australias transition to clean energy.
Our client delivers fully integrated solutions across the lifecycle of renewable projects from development and funding through to construction ownership and operation. With a strong pipeline of wind solar and battery storage (BESS) projects they are now looking to grow their grid team with the addition of a Senior Grid Connection Engineer.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to the full grid connection lifecycle across large-scale renewable energy projects in the NEM.
You will work closely with experienced grid engineers supporting a wide range of activities from feasibility through to commissioning and generator registration while building strong technical capability across solar BESS and hybrid systems.
Key Responsibilities
Grid Connection Delivery
Support grid connection activities across all project stages from early feasibility to commissioning and registration
Assist with Grid Connection Enquiries and regulatory submissions
Contribute to the preparation and coordination of Generator Performance Standards (GPS) documentation
Technical & Modelling Support
Assist in the coordination and review of power system studies and connection models
Contribute to modelling using PSCAD PSSE and DIgSILENT PowerFactory
Support preparation of technical reports documentation and submissions
Commissioning & Compliance
Assist with grid commissioning activities including Hold point testing and R2 model validation and reporting
Support compliance processes to ensure alignment with NER and regulatory requirements
Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with internal teams across development engineering and project delivery
Support engagement with AEMO Network Service Providers (NSPs) and External consultants
Participate in technical meetings alongside senior engineers
Project Support & Risk Tracking
Assist with grid program planning and milestone tracking
Support identification and management of technical and delivery risks
Maintain awareness of evolving NEM NER and NSP requirements
What Were Looking For
Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
Demonstrated experience in Power Systems and Grid studies
Foundational understanding of:
National Electricity Market (NEM)
National Electricity Rules (NER)
Grid connection frameworks
Experience with modelling tools (PSSE PSCAD and PowerFactory)
Strong analytical thinking and technical report writing ability
Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail
Eagerness to learn and develop within the grid connection space
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Interest in building long-term expertise in renewable energy and grid integration
Why This Role Stands Out
Direct exposure to complex utility-scale renewable projects
Structured mentorship from experienced grid engineers
Clear pathway to develop deep NEM and grid connection expertise
Opportunity to work across solar BESS and hybrid technologies
Be part of a business investing heavily in Australias clean energy future
Who This Role Suits
This opportunity is ideal for someone who:
Is looking for hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle
Wants to move beyond theory into real-world renewable project delivery
Thrives in a learning-focused technically supportive environment
