Job Summary
Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) works to alleviate poverty and promote self-determination for the Banjima Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.
GAC represents the Banjima Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia. GAC was established in 1996 following negotiations with Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd a subsidiary of Rio Tinto to advocate for the collective interests of the Traditional Owners.

The Senior Governance Advisor supports the Board and Management of the Gumala Aboriginal Corporation in meeting their compliance obligations; and ensures efficient administration across theGovernance business unit.
The aim of the role is to develop and lead high-quality governance across the business in order to achieve GACs mission vision and strategic objectives. The role will be required to have anoutstanding level of business awareness contract management and governance principles.
- Implementing maintaining and reviewing internal governance standards of GAC including risk register management.
- Facilitating and overseeing governance-related projects including the convening of AnnualGeneral Meetings and Member consultation meetings.
- Coordinating and managing daily tasks of the two Governance Officers and the Governance team ensuring compliance with procedures and guidelines.
- Liaising with the Executive Officers office and relevant external agencies to ensure governance andfunding compliance.
- Preparing Board communications relating to governance compliance risk and associatedmatters for release to Members stakeholders regulators and the broader community as appropriate.
This position is based in East Perth with occasional travel to the Pilbara and is being offered on aninitial 12-month term.
- Tertiary qualification in Business Law Governance or relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated team leadership with the ability to motivate and coach team members.
- Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of the CATSI Act
- Experience in managing compliance issues in a small to medium not-for-profit organisation.
- Ability to build rapport with all stakeholders of the business
- Strong organisational and planning skills
