About the role
As a Senior Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the security reliability and resilience of the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) through advanced power system analysis modelling and reporting. Working at the forefront of Australias energy transition you will provide engineering expertise technical leadership insight and foresight to address emerging system challenges and opportunities helping to shape a secure sustainable and future-ready energy system.
What you will be doing
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of Generator Performance Standards (GPS) frameworks methodologies and processes to support the secure and reliable operation of the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).
- Provide specialist technical leadership in the assessment of new and existing transmission-connected generating systems ensuring compliance with GPS requirements and industry standards.
- Support the development and implementation of energy market and regulatory reforms contributing technical expertise to rule changes policy initiatives and industry consultation processes.
- Investigate generator performance issues and non-compliances developing practical solutions and remediation strategies to maintain system security and compliance outcomes.
- Deliver expert advice on generator performance power system security and compliance matters to system operators planners engineers and external stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with network providers market participants regulators and industry partners acting as a subject matter expert and driving continuous improvement across the GPS framework.
What you will bring to the role
- Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline relevant to power systems analysis.
- A wealth of experience in power system networks and operations with a strong understanding of electricity generation transmission systems power system analysis and modelling.
- Proven expertise in generator connection processes including the assessment of generator performance power system performance and compliance requirements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with demonstrated success negotiating complex technical issues across parties with diverse commercial operational and regulatory objectives.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts for non-technical audiences supported by experience using power system analysis and modelling tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory PSCAD and Python.
