Senior Electrical Design Officer Secondary Systems and Network Design
Job Summary
Evoenergy has an exciting opportunity to onboard a Senior Electrical Design Officer to join our Secondary Systems and Network Design team within Evoenergy. As a Senior Design Officer you will be responsible for designing the installation and replacement of Evoenergy assets with consideration of asset lifecycle cost. This includes consideration for the design requirements impacting the construction maintenance and end of life recycling/disposal phases.
In this role you will be responsible for providing technical data and information to relevant stakeholders throughout the design process. This includes engineering analysis in the formation of design/project briefs to ensure we deliver Program of Works (PoW) design solutions in a timely manner. This role will see you engaging with many internal stakeholders customers developers and Government agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysing and understanding of asset management and operational needs within a multi-disciplinary technical environment to accurately determine project scope of works.
- Site visits with stakeholders preparing project cost estimates and associated scope of works
- Leading by example in the application of Safety in Design principles
- Ordering materials suitable for the proposed electrical design in line with standards
- Design complex electrical distribution projectsincluding substations switchyards overheadand underground networksin line with standards best practice safety requirements and cost considerations.
- Performing calculations and assessments for various design criteria including (but not limited to) network analysis complex earthing studies distribution cable/overhead line and LV drop calculations
- Liaising with project stakeholders to ensure a successful project outcome and positive customer experience
- Managing stakeholder expectations by communicating capabilities and responsibilities with respect to delivery of services and supporting the project for technical matters.
- Negotiating acceptable outcomes for the business while focusing on the needs and requirements of the customer
- Ensure all works within area of responsibility meet all regulatory & legal requirements
- Maintaining project oversight and advocating customers requirements to other business teams throughout the entire project implementation process
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience gained from exposure to an asset intensive industry in design of complex electricity distribution projects including; substations switchyards overhead and underground networks
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of the regulatory environment relating to electricity distribution or similar regulated environment
- Demonstrated advanced problem-solving experience and electrical design tasks
- Sound knowledge understanding and proven experience in developing and maintaining relationships with all key stakeholders including internal and external customers developers contractors consultants and government agencies
- Experience in desktop applications including Microsoft Office asset / project / works management systems and financial systems
- ACT Class C drivers licence or equivalent
