Senior Design Manager

This prestigious construction company has been operating for 30 years and is regarded as one of the most trusted and respected medium tier contractors nationally. They complete a range of commercial projects up to $50M and boast a client list that reads like the whos who in corporate Australia and have one of the best team cultures of any builder in the industry. Projects consist of educational institutional sporting infrastructure major hotel developments with all work coming through repeat clients. They currently have record numbers of employees hitting 10 year and 20 year milestones and a minimum staff turnover

As Senior Design Manager you will take a lead role in the front-end of the business managing the companys most complex technical projects as well as taking control of a team of design coordinators who will be on smaller projects and provide mentoring and guidance. This role can be a stepping stone to a Pre-Construction Manager role in the business. Suitable candidates will have a technical background undertaking the following:

• Lead the design team from design development through to construction
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure the required level of detail is being met
• Proactively drive the design cost and scope to optimize development budget
• Bring together and lead the consultant team ensuring adherence to the design program
• Evaluate any technical-based variations proposed from the construction team and provide recommendation to development team
• Lead shop-drawing review and sign off after input from the construction team

As well as being a technical design manager this role will suit someone who likes to make an impact on construction projects directing consultants driving internal construction teams and achieving tangible project outcomes. The company has a professional development program which will mean this role will be able to grow into a Pre-Construction Manager or Head of Design role in time.
