Your next career opportunity
You will lead day-to-day delivery of the Hear Alert trial advancing next-generation cochlear implant neurophysiology. You will work hands-on inthe operatingtheatre and clinicsand recruit and support participantscapturing complex electrophysiology that directly informs patient care. You will collaborate with engineerscliniciansand industry building a distinctive clinician-scientist profile in hearing research.

What you will deliver:

  • Lead designcoordinationand governance of the Hear Alert cohort trial ensuring rigorous ethics regulatory and protocol compliance.

  • Manage participant journey end-to-end including recruitment consent trainingsupportand retention across intraoperative and home settings.

  • Acquire curate and quality-assure complex cochlear implant electrophysiology data integrating intraoperative recordings with longitudinal home monitoring.

  • Contribute neurophysiologicalexpertiseto protocol refinement biomarker interpretation publications conferencepresentationsand industry-facing reports.

  • Provide operational leadership mentoring students and staff and fostering collaboration across academic clinical and industry partners.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Hold a PhD or equivalent in audiology neuroscience biomedical science biomedicalengineeringoraclosely related clinical discipline.

  • Demonstrate substantial experience conducting human clinical studies including ethics submissions consent processesrecruitmentand longitudinal retention.

  • Bring hands-onexpertisewith clinical electrophysiology systems and feel comfortable working within operating theatre or procedural environments.

  • Show capability managing complex clinical datasets including database design data integritychecksand documentation for regulatory-grade research.

  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons clinicians engineers industrypartnersand participants across multidisciplinary multi-site trial environments.

  • Contribute peer-reviewed outputs and mentoring and welcome opportunities to translate neurophysiology into clinically impactful hearing technologies.

You will join the Department of Surgery(Otolaryngology)within Melbourne Medical School which is based at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.Otolaryngology is at the forefront ofworld-class clinical trials and translational research acrosscochlear implantshearingandneuroscience working closely with the hospitals internationally renowned Cochlear Implant Clinic.You will work inside the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct partnering closely with Cochlear Ltd and multidisciplinary researchers.
