This is a senior technical position offering broad exposure across building compliance certification fire safety and essential services within one of Sydneys most diverse coastal will work alongside experienced Building Surveyors and Essential Services Officers assessing building matters conducting inspections and helping property owners achieve safe and compliant is open to candidates at different stages of their building surveying careers. You may already have broad experience across a range of building types or you may hold restricted registration and be looking for the support and exposure needed to continue opportunityReporting within Councils Compliance function you will:Assess and investigate complex building and fire-safety Councils Essential Services and Fire Safety fire-safety schedules and Annual Fire Safety inspections and assess compliance across Classes 29 appropriate building and fire-safety and issue notices orders directions and regulatory and apply the NCC/BCA NSW legislation and relevant Australian technical advice to colleagues property owners and other resolve sensitive compliance matters through clear communication and practical to broader certification and regulatory work as Council continues to develop its role has no direct reports but carries senior technical responsibility and provides the opportunity to support and guide other youYou will be a registered Building Surveyor or Certifier with experience in building regulation certification compliance or fire do not need to know the answer to every matter immediately. However you must be able to identify the relevant legislation codes and standards undertake appropriate research and reach a clear defensible is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:Current registration as a Building Surveyor or Certifier in applying the NCC/BCA and relevant NSW to Classes 29 buildings and complex fire-safety ability to manage investigations inspections and regulatory professional judgement and strong technical research handling difficult or sensitive customer matters.A constructive approach to compliance focused on achieving safe outcomes.A genuine interest in continuing to develop their registration and technical in NSW local government would be advantageous but candidates from private certification consultancy and other relevant regulatory environments are encouraged to RandwickYou will join an established and supportive team with significant experience across building certification compliance and fire safety.
